# Oncoteam > When someone you love has cancer, you become their advocate. Oncoteam is your AI ally — it helps you understand lab results, ask the right questions, find clinical trials across Europe and the US, and make sure nothing gets overlooked. All from your phone. ## The Story Oncoteam was built by Peter Fusek — an entrepreneur and technology enthusiast, not a doctor — when his wife Erika was diagnosed with metastatic colorectal cancer. Buried in lab results, genetic reports, and treatment protocols he didn't understand, he built what he needed: a tool to keep up with a situation that moves faster than any one person can track. Alongside Oncoteam (the intelligence layer), he built [Oncofiles](https://github.com/peter-fusek/oncofiles) — the data layer that organizes all medical documents from Google Drive. Oncofiles structures and connects them. Oncoteam turns them into understanding, questions, and action. An [Instarea](https://www.instarea.com) project. ## Who It's For - Cancer patients who want to understand and track their own treatment - Family members acting as patient advocates — spouses, children, siblings - Care providers coordinating between doctors, family, and the patient - Anyone who needs a second opinion backed by medical textbooks and the latest research — not to replace the doctor, but because even the best oncologist has hundreds of patients and fifteen minutes per visit ## What Oncoteam Does - Explains lab results in plain language with trend charts, safety thresholds, and cycle-over-cycle comparisons - Prepares personalized questions before every oncologist visit based on your latest data - Searches clinical trials from ClinicalTrials.gov and EU registries across 14 European countries, matched to your molecular profile - AI-powered trial funnel with persistent kanban: classifies each trial into excluded / later line / watching / action needed, with full movement audit log - Cross-references your treatment with medical textbooks (DeVita), NCCN protocols, and latest PubMed research - Tracks treatment trends — tumor markers, blood counts, inflammation indices — so you can see if treatment is working - Pre-cycle safety checks with automated hold/go recommendations - Sends WhatsApp alerts for safety issues, weekly briefings, and trial updates - WhatsApp conversation history: every message persisted and reviewable on the dashboard - Provides bilingual interface (Slovak/English) with medical and plain-language modes - Generates family-friendly treatment summaries shareable via WhatsApp or print - WhatsApp onboarding: 8-step state machine with media attachments and admin approval - Hereditary DNA panel display (BRCA1/2, Lynch syndrome, ATM, PALB2) on the patient page - Research hub with category tabs (treatment updates, clinical news, patient education) - 21 autonomous AI agents for monitoring, research, and reporting - Stores all patient data in your own Google Drive (GDPR compliant) ## Stats - 21 AI agents working autonomously per patient - 50+ tasks per patient per week (briefings, trial searches, lab checks, alerts) - 500+ clinical trials monitored across US and EU registries - 3 patients in active use (oncology + general health) - 26 MCP tools, 34 dashboard API routes - 744 passing tests - Multi-patient support with per-patient scheduling, OAuth, and data isolation ## Architecture - Built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP) — open standard for AI tool integration - Two-layer architecture: Oncofiles (data/persistence) + Oncoteam (intelligence) - Patient data stored in patient-owned Google Drive — no local database - Dashboard built with Nuxt 4 (SSR), backend with Python 3.12 / FastMCP 3.0+ - Deployed on Railway with zero-downtime deploys - Circuit breaker + semaphore concurrency control for resilience - Free tier: 200 documents, 500 AI queries/month, 100 agent runs/month ## Integrations - Claude AI (autonomous agent loop, deep analysis) - PubMed (NCBI E-utilities) - ClinicalTrials.gov (API v2) - EU Clinical Trials registries - WhatsApp (Twilio) - Google Drive (via Oncofiles) - Model Context Protocol (MCP) ## Access - **Website**: https://oncoteam.cloud - **Live Demo**: https://dashboard.oncoteam.cloud/demo (no login required, sample data) - **Dashboard**: https://dashboard.oncoteam.cloud (Google sign-in) - **WhatsApp**: Chat anytime for quick answers, summaries, and alerts - **Claude.ai**: Deep analysis and Q&A via MCP connector ## Links - Website: https://oncoteam.cloud - Dashboard: https://dashboard.oncoteam.cloud - GitHub: https://github.com/peter-fusek/oncoteam - Oncofiles: https://github.com/peter-fusek/oncofiles - Author: Peter Fusek (https://www.linkedin.com/in/peterfusek/) - Company: Instarea (https://www.instarea.com) ## Slovak guides for patient advocates - Správa lekárskych dokumentov (managing medical documents): https://oncoteam.cloud/sprava-lekarskych-dokumentov.html - Pred návštevou onkológa (before the oncology visit): https://oncoteam.cloud/pred-navstevou-onkologa.html - Molekulárny profil nádoru — NGS vysvetlený (molecular profile explained — KRAS, BRAF, MSI, BRCA, ATM): https://oncoteam.cloud/molekularny-profil-vysvetlenie.html ## Regulatory framing Oncoteam is NOT a medical device under EU MDR 2017/745 or FDA SaMD classification. It is patient-engagement and information-aggregation software. All clinical decisions are made by the treating oncology team.
